Search intensifies for missing 2-year-old child in Armenian village

Search efforts continue for two-year-old Tigran, who went missing in Armenia's Marmarik village on May 4. Rescue divers began operations near the river close to the child’s home, extending their search to a nearby lake known as Aghbyurak. Despite challenging conditions such as poor visibility and a strong current, search teams have combed some areas multiple times.

“We’re checking every possible area, pulling out pieces of clothing, shoes, anything we find,” said a diver involved since day one. “We’re all hoping for a miracle.”

So far, various items have been recovered from the river and shown to the family for identification. Authorities say they are working on all possible leads. While the main theory remains that the boy fell into the river, other possibilities are being investigated.

According to Interior Ministry spokesperson Narek Sargsyan, the search now involves 300 rescuers, 100 police officers, divers and drones. Security and investigative agencies, including the National Security Service and the Investigative Committee, are also involved in the operations.

Sargsyan claims that resources are sufficient and efforts have intensified.
