Tigran Ter-Margaryan, head of Yerevan’s Nor Nork administrative district, has submitted resignation, ArmLur.am reports.
When contacted by Panorama.am, the Yerevan City Hall neither confirmed nor denied the report, stating that any official developments would be communicated in due course.
Yerevan mayoral spokesperson Hayk Kostanyan addressed the matter in a Facebook post.
“Given the volume of inquiries regarding the possible resignation of the Nor Nork district head, we would like to inform the public that an official statement will be issued in case of such a development," he wrote.
Ter-Margaryan is a member of the pro-Western Republic (Hanrapetutyun) Party. According to unofficial reports, he may be succeeded by fellow party member Marat Sevoyan.
The resignation comes in the wake of an incident on April 30, when Ter-Margaryan and members of his staff allegedly assaulted civic activist Artur Chakhoyan at the Nor Nork administrative office.
