Impeachment proceedings against Pashinyan begin

Edmon Marukyan, leader of the Bright Armenia Party, on Monday officially announced the launch of impeachment proceedings against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Former Civil Contract MPs Hovik Aghazaryan and Hakob Aslanyan have nominated Marukyan as their candidate for prime minister as part of the no-confidence motion against Pashinyan. The application to the parliament speaker stressed that the prime minister had significantly deviated from the government's program.

Marukyan signed the nomination document and confirmed his willingness to stand as a candidate for prime minister. Both Aghazaryan and Aslanyan signed the no-confidence motion.

“God be with us,” Marukyan remarked following the announcement.

Calling the moment historic, Aslanyan stated: “This move will serve the state and its institutions.”
