Illicit asset seizure lawsuit against Vahagn Vermishyan dropped

The Armenian Prosecutor General’s Office on Tuesday dropped its lawsuit against Vahagn Vermishyan, former chairman of the Urban Planning Committee, seeking the seizure of suspected illicit assets, his lawyer Aleksandr Kochubayev announced.

“This is a significant legal precedent,” he wrote on Facebook. "The defense team successfully established factual and legal grounds that called the legitimacy of the claim into question."

Kochubayev stressed that the case lacked sufficient evidence and amounted to an unlawful legal pursuit.

“Vermishyan did not retreat and achieved justice through a purely legal fight, strategic planning and systematic work,” the lawyer added.
