Driver in custody after ATV crash kills two schoolgirls in Armenia's Tsaghkadzor

The driver involved in the tragic May 24 ATV crash in the Armenian resort town of Tsaghkadzor that killed two schoolgirls has been remanded in custody, Investigative Committee spokesperson Kima Avdalyan confirmed to Panorama.am.

Two other girls were hospitalized following the accident, one of whom underwent surgery and remains under medical supervision.

A criminal case has been launched into the incident under Article 342 (Part 4) of Armenia’s Criminal Code, which covers violations of road safety rules resulting in the death of two or more people. The offense is punishable by 5 to 10 years in prison, particularly if committed by an intoxicated driver or someone without a valid license.
