Raffi Hovannisian accuses government of undermining Armenia's sovereignty

Speaking at the Sardarapat Memorial on Republic Day, Armenia’s former Foreign Minister Raffi Hovannisian accused the current government of undermining the country's sovereignty and dishonoring its history.

“We cherish the Sardarapat, Bash Aparan and Karakilisa victories as cornerstones of our statehood,” he stated. “Without these battles, the Republic of Armenia would not exist now."

In response to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s earlier statement that “our people no longer need to search for their homeland, there is no need to dream of a homeland, because our dreams have been realized – the Republic of Armenia is that homeland”, Hovannisian dismissed the comments as “mockery".

“Those who have surrendered Armenian territories, its sovereignty and sacrificed our golden youth now speak of values they’ve betrayed,” he said. “They have not merely disregarded the lessons of our history – they have failed to comprehend them. If this course persists, our history will repeat itself tragically."

Hovannisian urged the public to take action to prevent the repetition of past mistakes.
