Alen Simonyan just had another slip of the tongue

By Anahit Voskanyan

When Armenian parliament speaker Alen Simonyan once spat at a citizen, no one mistook it for a "slip of the tongue". His tongue muscles were functioning precisely as intended.

This time, the controversy centers on his statement that Azerbaijanis should live in Armenia just like Armenians live in Georgia.

But he shouldn’t have said Georgia – he should have said Azerbaijan.

In Georgia, Armenians live primarily in Javakhk, referring to it as their our land.

How many Armenians currently live in Azerbaijan? Perhaps four or five. It's not about Armenian prisoners, but the few who remain in the ethnically cleansed and occupied territories of Artsakh.

Fine. Then let just as many Azerbaijanis live in Armenia, in a museum – just as Turkish ideology once envisioned the presence of a single Armenian. Except this time, let’s be a little more humane.

The others must face justice – tenfold. They belong in prison for crimes against humanity and against the Armenian people, charged alongside the leadership of the Civil Contract party.

So yes, Alen Simonyan just had another "slip of the tongue" as he often does. At least when he’s not spitting at his critics.
