Yerevan's Nor Nork district has new head

Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan has appointed Marat Sevoyan as the new head of the Nor Nork administrative district, according to mayoral spokesperson Hayk Kostanyan.

Sevoyan replaces former district chief Tigran Ter-Margaryan, who resigned following a scandal involving violence at the district administration building. Ter-Margaryan, a member of the Republic Party, assaulted civic activist Arthur Chakhoyan along with his staff members on April 30.

Just five days before announcing his resignation on May 14, Ter-Margaryan had introduced Sevoyan as the new deputy head of the district.
