Vanetsyan: Pashinyan has no right to speak on failure or morality

Homeland Party leader Artur Vanetsyan, former head of the National Security Service, on Friday strongly criticized Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s latest attack on the Armenian Apostolic Church and its clergy.

“What happens when a country’s prime minister fails in governance? What happens when that failure leads to thousands of casualties and the loss of our homeland?” Vanetsyan wrote on Facebook. “These are rhetorical questions. But one thing is clear: Nikol is the last person who should be speaking about failure, betrayal, or morality.”

The politician next offered a strong defense of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

“Our church has endured far greater trials throughout its history than these pitiful attempts at blackmail by the Pashinyan regime,” he stated. “The Armenian Apostolic Church – our fortress of faith and values – will undoubtedly overcome this challenge as well.”

“Sadly, we had to hit rock bottom to realize the need for national revival. Now we have no other option but to truly understand who we are as a people, church and state. But I believe in the power of the idea “One Nation, One Homeland, One Church”. Together, we will overcome this challenge as well. God be with us!” Vanetsyan said.
