MP: Azerbaijan seeks to portray Armenia as war criminal at sham trials

The 2016 April war was brought into discussion at the sham trials of Armenian prisoners in Baku.

Opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan reported that General Levon Mnatsakanyan, who served as the commander of the Artsakh Defense Army at the time, confirmed his direct involvement in the military operations and categorically rejected the allegations made by so-called witnesses brought to the court.

In a social media post on Saturday, the Pativ Unem faction MP said that Mnatsakanyan analyzed the military aspects of the so-called “testimonies” and demonstrated that the accusations claiming that Armenian forces targeted civilian areas were baseless and lacked credibility from a professional military perspective.

“Baku's grand farce is in full swing as the authorities attempt to falsely attribute numerous war crimes not so much to the Armenian prisoners held in Baku, but rather to the Republic of Armenia itself,” Abrahamyan wrote.
