Armenian MP: Russia fears Azerbaijan could open new front against it

The political and propaganda tensions between Russia and Azerbaijan continue, Armenian opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan claims.

"The situation has escalated to the point where Russian officials are concerned that Azerbaijan itself might eventually take the initiative to open a new front against Russia," he  wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.

"While Moscow remains vigilant to signals from the Baltic states and Finland, there is now growing unease over Azerbaijan’s actions."

He highlighted that the rift between Russia and Azerbaijan after the downing of an Azerbaijani aircraft late last year was initially seen by many as a situational conflict. However, Baku has since leveraged the incident to distance itself from Moscow and engage in repeated provocations.

"For Armenia, the critical concern is preventing this conflict from spilling over into our territory – a scenario that cannot be ruled out," Abrahamyan emphasized.
