Cilicia Analytical Platform members concerned over church-related tensions in Armenia

On June 6, the Cilicia Analytical Platform convened online, chaired by His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, focusing on important developments concerning Artsakh, the Armenian Catholicosate of Cilicia reported.

The meeting began with a report on a recent conference held in Bern, which addressed the preservation of Artsakh’s spiritual and cultural heritage. Participants highlighted ongoing initiatives in Switzerland aimed at protecting the rights of the people of Artsakh, particularly emphasizing the formation of a parliamentary committee advocating for dialogue between representatives of Artsakh and Azerbaijan. In this context, participants reaffirmed the legal significance of maintaining the operation of Artsakh’s state institutions.

The agenda also included an overview of His Holiness’s official visit to Greece, where he met with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense. Discussions focused on Turkey’s influence in the region and the associated risks stemming from its policies.

Members of the Platform expressed concerns over the increasing tensions in Armenia, noting that government inquiries into high-ranking clergy are contributing to societal unrest.

Note that the proceedings of the Platform’s conferences held last year are now published and available for purchase.
