The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Bureau expressesed its unwavering support for the Armenian Apostolic Church and strongly condemned the Armenian leadership's anti-church campaign in a statement released on Tuesday. The full text of the statement is provided below.
"Today, when the Armenian people face grave security challenges, existential threats to Armenia and the Armenian people remain unresolved and national consolidation and solidarity are vital, the ruling regime has launched a campaign against the Armenian Apostolic Church, its Catholicos and the episcopal class.
The administration’s reprehensible objectives and rhetoric against one of the fundamental pillars of our identity are blatantly anti-national and unconstitutional. It's no coincidence that these vile attacks have coincided with the church’s international efforts to defend Armenia’s interests and the rights of Artsakh Armenians.
It’s also evident that the authorities' attacks aligned with the disgraceful and false statements of the enemy state's "religious leader" and parallel certain circles' attempts to exploit the issue of religious freedom in Armenia, thereby undermining the constitutionally enshrined historic mission and status of our national church.
Undermining the church’s exceptional historical role in the life of the Armenian people and targeting it not only serves hostile agendas but also deepens the moral crisis in the country, erodes our collective resilience and wounds the sacred feelings and dignity of the faithful people.
The ARF Bureau reaffirms its unwavering support for the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, strongly condemns the ruling regime's destructive and anti-state actions against it and declares that, with the full capacity and unanimity of the pan-Armenian structure, it stands firmly beside the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church for the collective aspirations of the Armenian people and the strengthening of Armenian statehood."
