Expert: U.S. stance on Israel's attack against Iran could help stabilize situation

Political analyst Suren Sargsyan believes that the U.S. administration’s position on the Israeli attack against Iran could serve as a stabilizing factor at a time when the world stands on the brink of disaster.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday called Israel's strikes against Iran a "unilateral action" and said Washington was not involved while also urging Tehran not to target U.S. interests or personnel in the region.

"Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in strikes against Iran and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region. Israel advised us that they believe this action was necessary for its self-defense," Rubio said in a statement.

“President Trump and the Administration have taken all necessary steps to protect our forces and remain in close contact with our regional partners. Let me be clear: Iran should not target US interests or personnel,” he added.

“The U.S. position on Israel's strikes against Iran is quite telling,” Sargsyan wrote on Facebook on Friday, referring to Rubio’s remarks.

“The statement clearly indicates that the United States is not involved and seeks to continue negotiations with Tehran. This stance may serve as a stabilizing factor at a time when the world is teetering on the brink of catastrophe. Meanwhile, Turkish-Azerbaijani military exercises are taking place right under our noses,” the exert stated.
