Armenian police officer sacked after assaulting reporter

The police officer who struck a journalist from 24news.am during a protest in the Armenian village of Kasakh has been dismissed.

"The police officer involved in the incident with the journalist on Ashtarak Highway earlier today has been dismissed," Interior Ministry spokesperson Narek Sargsyan said in a statement.

The incident occurred while riot police were forcefully detaining some protesters.
