Analyst: 'The ground is shifting beneath Pashinyan's feet'

Political analyst Stepan Danielyan claims that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is losing control over his key power bases.

“The ground is shifting beneath Pashinyan’s feet. His two main pillars of support – the Civil Contract faction and the law enforcement system – are concerned about their future. Doubts have taken root among them and they realize that Pashinyan has made them complicit in actions for which they will ultimately be held accountable,” Danielyan wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.

“This man’s hysteria, which reflects a state of panic, stems from this very situation. Through erratic steps, he is trying to convince the Civil Contract faction and law enforcement agencies that he remains in control and is prepared to take any measures necessary to keep their loyalty. But his hysteria signals weakness, not strength, which is becoming apparent to both groups,” the analyst added.
