Expert: At least two key objectives of Israel's attack on Iran have failed

Iran specialist Vardan Voskanyan claims at least two of the main goals behind Israel's attack on Iran have failed.

“It's now safe to say that at least two of the objectives behind Israel's assault on Iran have not been achieved,” Voskanyan wrote on Telegram on Friday.

According to him, Israeli strategists likely hoped that a powerful first strike, particularly one that targeted and killed military leaders, would trigger a crisis within the country’s political and military command structures.

“Clearly, not only has such a crisis failed to emerge, but also the Iranians have managed to regroup rapidly and launch a retaliatory strike within approximately eight hours,” the expert emphasized.

The second likely objective, he said, was to provoke internal unrest on social, ethnic and religious grounds. However, this too has failed.

“On the contrary, the attacks on civilian infrastructure and the casualties among the civilian population have unified the Iranian people, prompting them to set aside internal divisions.”

Voskanyan attributes Iran’s resilience to its longstanding statehood tradition and a deeply rooted civilizational identity, which, he believes has enabled the country to withstand serious challenges.
