Armenia's spring temperatures rise by 2.1C over past 90 years

The Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center of Armenia reports that spring 2025 was notably warm, with an average seasonal temperature of 6.8C – 1.8C above the norm. This marked the 7th warmest spring since 1935. March was particularly mild, with temperatures nearly 3C above average, reducing frost risks across the country.

Total spring precipitation reached 211.3 mm, 106.6% of the seasonal norm. April was especially wet (132% of the norm), while March and May saw slightly below-average rainfall (92–93%).

Temperature extremes ranged from -23C in Ashotsk on March 5 to 36C in Meghri on May 31.

Long-term data shows Armenia’s average spring temperature increased by 2.1C over the past 90 years. Meanwhile, average spring precipitation decreased by around 25 mm (12.7%). The last decade has been dominated by very warm and even extremely hot springs likely caused by climate change.
