Mikayel Minasyan expresses support for businessman Samvel Karapetyan illegally detained by Armenian authorities

Mikayel Minasyan, former Ambassador of Armenia to the Holy See, has expressed support for the illegally detained philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan.

Minasyan wrote: «The ancient Eastern proverb, "No good deed goes unpunished," has an explanation: the forces of evil fight against good deeds to prevent them, or to stone and devalue them. Why? Because they are the forces of evil.

Today marks the Feast of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin—the spiritual, historical, and, in many cases, the sole center of Armenians.

Yet, today, one of the greatest benefactors in the history of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin is in prison.

My prayers are with the Karapetyan family, that they may pass through this trial with dignity. As for Samvel, I believe he doesn't need my prayers, because his deeds will ensure his guardian angels protect him and grant him victory.

We are all on a difficult path of crystallization and purification—both individually and collectively. We are enduring great losses and numerous sacrifices. Everyone understands what has happened, and most importantly, what is happening now. And those who don't understand still have their purgatory to go through.

Certainly, this isn't easy. But on the other hand, perhaps this purification is necessary for all of us. Perhaps this is our path to salvation. The church probably needs it too, for it is now being purified and strengthened by confronting Satan.

Happy Feast of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. May the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin remain steadfast, and may Samvel Karapetyan, transformed from a benefactor into a defender of our faith and church, continue his mission and, having overcome evil, lead us towards the light».

It's worth recalling that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan initiated a strong reaction against prominent Armenian philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan. This occurred after Karapetyan made a statement supporting the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Karapetyan had criticized Pashinyan's inappropriate conduct, which subsequently led to Pashinyan issuing threats to the philanthropist on Facebook. Following this, a "campaign of terror" was launched against Karapetyan's businesses in Armenia, resulting in his imprisonment. Furthermore, the Armenian Prime Minister began an illegal process to seize the electricity grid from Karapetyan.
