Lawyer: Armenian opposition figures' homes raided over 'coup plot'

Law enforcement authorities have conducted searches at the residences of multiple Armenian opposition figures since Wednesday morning in connection with an alleged "coup plot", according to lawyer Arsen Babayan.

In a social media post, Babayan expressed deep skepticism regarding the legitimacy of the raids.

"I do not believe that the search warrants were issued by an Armenian court. I don't believe the investigating officer and the supervising prosecutor truly represent Armenia's law enforcement system," Babayan wrote.

"I refuse to believe it. I'm convinced this has Azerbaijan’s courts, investigators and prosecutors all over it. I simply cannot believe that any Armenian could be responsible for what is happening now. Please forgive my disbelief,” the lawyer added.
