15 detained over alleged coup plot in Armenia

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has confirmed the detention of 15 people as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into an alleged terror and coup plot by leaders and activists of the Holy Struggle movement.

In a statement on Thursday, the agency said all motions for the pre-trial detention of 15 suspects had been granted.

The arrests follow a series of searches conducted within the scope of a criminal case handled by the General Department for the Investigation of Crimes Against the State, Constitutional Order, and Public Security. Authorities report that the searches yielded further material evidence allegedly substantiating the charges.

Among the items seized were large quantities of hazardous devices, reportedly intended for damaging public infrastructure, including electric and internet service cables. The Investigative Committee also released images of the confiscated items, including colored smoke canisters and computer equipment.
