Vartan Oskanian: Armenia is now an authoritarian state

Armenia has effectively become an authoritarian state, former Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian claims.

His comments come amid detentions of senior clerics as part of the Armenian leadership's campaign against the Armenian Apostolic Church and its clergy.

“Armenia is now an authoritarian state,” Oskanian said in a social media video. “Let us all truly acknowledge this reality, so that when further developments occur, we are neither surprised nor shocked, wondering how such things could happen. They will happen because we are living under authoritarian rule”

Oskanian emphasized that Armenia’s constitution and laws are no longer respected by the authorities.
