Minister: ENA to face at least 12.5 billion drams in fines by year-end

Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan has announced that the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) will face penalties totaling at least 12.5 billion drams by the end of the year. The statement came at parliamentary debates on a bill seeking the nationalization of Armenia’s electric utility on Tuesday.

Khudatyan noted that the directive came in writing from Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who tasked both the ministry and Khudatyan personally. He claimed that Pashinyan's public statement about state involvement in ENA followed the internal directive, aimed at ensuring systemic reforms.

"The system must be reset to enable new investments," Khudatyan said, adding that the fines and a one-month deadline set by Pashinyan triggered recent political developments surrounding ENA.
