Former Armenian MP calls for opposition unity

Former MP Samvel Farmanyan has stressed the need for opposition unity in Armenia, arguing that the majority of people demands a change of government.

"The unity of the opposition remains an unequivocal choice," Farmanyan wrote on Facebook on Wednesday. "Some 80 to 85 percent of Armenian citizens are yearning for an immediate change of power.”

He urged opposition leaders to translate the public sentiment into decisive political action.

"The mechanism is simple: mass protests and impeachment," the former MP said.

According to Farmanyan, if the current opposition fails to act, the situation may spiral beyond its control, sweeping away not only the current authorities but the opposition itself.

"Nikol Pashinyan must leave, period," he stessed.
