Opposition MP condemns raid at Tashir Group headquarters

Opposition lawmaker Garnik Danielyan has strongly criticized the ongoing search at the Tashir Group headquarters in Yerevan, labeling it as part of a broader campaign of political repression.

The Tashir Group of Companies is owned by businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, who has been placed in pre-trial detention on charges of calling for the seizure of power in Armenia, widely condemned as politically motivated.

"This is part of a campaign of repression," Danielyan told reporters on Wednesday, stating that the country’s leadership is influencing law enforcement agencies. “The little dictator [referring to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan] is once again using social media posts to direct law enforcement actions, urging them to intensify the crackdown,” he said.

The MP recalled Pashinyan’s statement from the parliament rostrum that “I will have to throw all of you into the NSS basements.”
