Today marks Mher Mkrtchyan's 95th birthday

July 4 marks the 95th birth anniversary of prominent stage and screen actor Mher (Frunzik) Mkrtchyan, a legend of Armenian cinema.

"More than an actor, Frunzik was a cultural phenomenon. His characters didn’t just come from scripts – they came from the soul. In his silent expressions lived a deep, human truth that spoke louder than words," the Armenian Cinema Foundation said in a statement.

"With over 40 film roles, including classics like "We and Our Mountains", "A Piece of Sky" and "The Tango of Our Childhood", he shaped not just memorable characters but an entire era of Armenian film. He redefined acting, making the audience see the human being behind the role.

"Frunzik made us believe that laughter could be kind and tears could be silent. Today, we remember not only the actor, but the man whose 'loudest laughter hid the quietest sorrow'. His legacy lives on not just on film, but in our hearts," it added.
