The pro-government majority in the Armenian National Assembly on Tuesday voted to strip opposition Hayastan faction MP Artur Sargsyan of parliamentary immunity, clearing the way for his prosecution.
All 62 MPs from the ruling Civil Contract party, who took part in a secret ballot, supported the measure, Counting Commission Chairman Narek Babayan announced.
Following the vote, the parliament proceeded to debate Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan's motion seeking Sargsyan’s detention.
