Water bottle thrown by ruling party MP hits fellow amid tensions in Armenian parliament

During a heated session of Armenia’s National Assembly on Tuesday, tensions escalated into a physical altercation.

Ruling Civil Contract party MP Artur Hovhannisyan threw a water bottle towards opposition lawmakers. However, the bottle missed its intended target and instead struck fellow Civil Contract MP Karen Hambardzumyan in the forehead.

Artur Hovhannisyan issued the most threats against opposition MPs during the tense exchange.
