No life-threatening injuries reported after mortar explosion at MoD training ground

Armenia’s Ministry of Defense has confirmed that the lives of those injured in a mortar explosion at its military training ground are out of danger.

The injured servicemen are currently under medical supervision and are receiving all necessary treatment.

The incident took place during a scheduled training session at a MoD training facility on July 8, at around 4pm. According to preliminary reports, the explosion was caused by a mortar discharge. An investigation is currently underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Channel 5 reported that eight servicemen were injured in the explosion. When contacted by Panorama.am, MoD spokesperson Aram Torosyan declined to provide further details.
