Analyst: Catholicos 'bears a heavy burden'

Political analyst Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan, head of the Voskanapat Analytical Center, has commented on Catholicos Aram I’s readiness to visit Armenia and try to find solutions for the conflict between the country’s political and religious leadership

“His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia, has expressed readiness to come to Armenia ‘at any time’ to consult with Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and other officials in an effort to find the best possible solutions to lead Armenia out of the current grave situation,” he wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.

“I try to imagine the scene – Aram I sitting down with these very people to search for solutions... It leaves one speechless. The burden on the Catholicos is heavy, immeasurably heavy,” he added.
