Opposition MP: No need to resign parliament seats amid Pashinyan impeachment effort

Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of the opposition Pativ Unem faction in the Armenian parliament, has stated that the opposition MPs see no reason to relinquish their parliamentary mandates, emphasizing that the impeachment process against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan remains highly relevant.

Speaking outside the Avan District Court, where a hearing was held on the detention of opposition MP Artur Sargsyan on Wednesday, Abrahamyan accused the authorities of politicizing legal processes. He claimed that decisions are dictated by the government and lack any legal basis.

“The case against Artur Sargsyan is also politically motivated. The ruling party has already delivered its verdict through public statements,” Abrahamyan said, adding that even media outlets covering such cases are increasingly being treated as complicit.

He condemned all actions that obstruct journalistic activity and urged media outlets to continue serving the public interest despite pressure.
