Artsakh rights council announces rally in Yerevan

The Council for the Protection of the Rights of Artsakh Armenians has announced a rally in Yerevan’s Liberty Square on Saturday evening.

“In these extremely difficult circumstances, we must make critical decisions together to defend our rights through joint efforts and lawful means,” it said in a statement.

“The rally organized by the Council has been officially authorized. However, the police and the Yerevan Municipality have rejected our requests for a march and sit-in, which were planned to proceed toward the Armenian government and the National Assembly. Nevertheless, during the rally, we plan to pursue all legal avenues to carry out a peaceful march in coordination with the police and to defend our rights.

“Despite recent repressions by the Armenian authorities targeting both members and supporters of the Council, we remain steadfast in our commitment. These pressures only strengthen our resolve and spirit of resistance, as our demands are just and firmly rooted in our fundamental rights,” reads the statement.
