Khachik Abajyan, who was recently dismissed from his role as Deputy Director of Student Activities Center at Yerevan State University (YSU), has condemned the dismissal of Bishop Anushavan Jamkochyan as Dean of the YSU Faculty of Theology.
In a social media post on Friday, Abajyan claimed that Jamkochyan received a formal notice and was removed from his post in what he described as a “moral decline” for the institution. He argued that the dismissal violates YSU’s internal procedures, which require a dean to remain in office until the end of his term, with a new selection process announced two months in advance.
Abajyan dismissed any "false" claims that the dean’s term had ended and called for public debates to disprove them. He stated that no other dean had been dismissed mid-process in this manner.
He recalled numerous occasions when YSU’s rector publicly praised Bishop Anushavan for his contributions to the university’s reputation and academic partnerships.
“This is what blind obedience looks like. Let’s see who’s next,” Abajyan added.
