Former Armenian mayor reportedly charged

Former Echmiadzin Mayor Diana Gasparyan has been charged by Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee, ArmLur.am reports, citing its sources.

In response to an inquiry from Panorama.am, the Anti-Corruption Committee neither confirmed nor denied the report, stating that they do not comment on such matters.

The Zhoghovurd daily reported earlier that Diana Gasparyan had been summoned to the Anti-Corruption Committee for questioning.

Gasparyan announced her resignation on May 15. Since then, her political allies have refrained from discussing the reasons behind her departure, saying they have nothing to add to the explanation she provided at the time.
