Armenia saw below-normal rainfall in June

Armenia experienced a drier-than-usual June in 2025, the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center reports.

The country’s average monthly temperature was 14.4C, within the normal range, but precipitation was significantly below average, totaling just 44 mm, or 70% of the norm.

The driest conditions were recorded in the Ararat Valley and Yerevan, where most weather stations recorded less than 3 mm of rain, just 3-10% of the usual June precipitation.

The highest temperature of the month was recorded in Areni on June 14, reaching 36.7C, followed by Ararat at 35.5C. The lowest temperature, -1.8C, was registered at the high-mountain Aragats station on June 5.

A powerful storm hit Aparan on June 15, with wind speeds reaching 39 m/s, causing widespread damage, including torn roofs, fallen trees and broken utility poles.

Historical data since 1935 show that the warmest June occurred in 2021 with an average temperature of 17.6C, and the coldest in 1967 with 11.2C. The wettest June was in 1939 with 118.1 mm of rain, while the driest was again in 2021 with only 19.3 mm.

Climate assessments reveal that, between 1935 and 2025, Armenia’s average June temperatures have risen by 2.6C, while rainfall has dropped by approximately 27 mm.
