Lawyer calls for awareness campaign about attacks on Armenian church

Human rights lawyer Ruben Melikyan has called for an international awareness campaign on X (formerly Twitter) in response to the Armenian leadership’s "abnormal" campaign against the Armenian Apostolic Church.

“The attacks against the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin by the man clinging to the prime minister’s office are abnormal even by the standards of today’s abnormal world,” Melikyan wrote on Facebook on Monday. “The problem is that this abnormality remains mostly invisible to the outside world. Many international actors are either poorly informed about what’s happening or continue to engage with the current regime as if everything is normal largely due to our own passivity and silence.”

The lawyer urges supporters to launch a targeted awareness campaign on X by posting short, clear messages and tagging influential global figures who have spoken out in defense of traditional values, including U.S. Vice President Mike Pence and tech entrepreneur Elon Musk.

Melikyan also recommends the use of hashtags such as #ChristianityUnderAttack and #BrotherInChrist. “If there are enough posts, there’s at least a 1% chance it could make a difference," he added.
