A tropical heatwave moving in from the south will bring extreme temperatures to Armenia from July 21 to 25, with Yerevan, the Ararat Valley and Syunik lowlands experiencing daytime highs of 38C to 40C, especially between 4-5pm. Elevated fire risk is expected in the areas, as well as in the foothills of Aragatsotn, Kotayk and Vayots Dzor Provinces.
Brief showers and thunderstorms are possible in Yerevan late on July 21, followed by dry weather from July 22 to 26.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms are forecast for some regions on July 21, 22, 25 and 26, with hail possible. July 23-24 will remain dry. Thunderstorms may bring gusty winds of 17-20 m/s, with additional evening wind intensification in Armavir, Kotayk and Aragatsotn Provinces.
Temperatures are set to further rise by 2-4C on July 21 and 22.
