Armenian minister announces 'positive update' in brandy exports

Armenia’s Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan has shared "good news" regarding Armenian brandy exports through Georgia.

“A positive update on brandy exports: In just the past two days, 88 trucks loaded with bottled brandy have departed from Georgia’s Gezi customs terminal en route to Upper Lars," he said in a social media post on Friday.

The minister's statement sparked criticism, with a user writing,“It’s a shame that this is now considered an achievement and good news.”

Shipments from several Armenian brandy producers were significantly disrupted after the Georgian authorities introduced physical inspections of alcoholic beverages in late April. Since then, numerous trucks carrying brandy have been held up in Georgia, awaiting the results of prolonged quality testing.
