Opposition MP accuses Pashinyan of 'waging war against people' and appeasing Baku

Opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan has accused Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of prioritizing internal repression and bowing to Azerbaijan's demands.

"While Baku and Yerevan exchange so-called 'constructive' messages, Azerbaijan continues to demand a change of Armenia’s constitution and the return of some 300,000 so-called 'refugees' to Armenia,” he wrote on Facebook on Monday, referring to the peace negotiations between the two countries.

The Pativ Unem faction MP questioned the government's silence over the Azerbaijani military presence in territories seized from Armenia between 2021 and 2023.

“Who is going to address the withdrawal of Azerbaijani forces from the areas they captured and now firmly control?” he asked.

Abrahamyan reminded that the Azerbaijani attacks on three Armenian regions resulted in hundreds of casualties and major territorial losses, granting Baku a significant strategic advantage.

"The current leader remains silent, naturally," the MP said. "He is fully focused on waging war against his own people and accommodating Azerbaijan's demands.”
