LPG prices in Armenia surge amid import disruptions, MP warns

The prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) have soared to 180-200 drams per liter in Armenia, up from 120 drams just a few weeks ago, opposition MP Garnik Danielyan warns.

In a social media post on Monday, Danielyan blamed the spike on import delays at the Georgia-Russia border, where hundreds of LPG trucks have been held up without clear explanation. 

"Some reports suggest that Armenian drivers are being asked for bribes to cross into Armenia," he wrote.

While the Competition Protection Commission says it is reviewing the situation, Danielyan accuses local businesses of exploiting the shortage for excess profit and criticizes government agencies for inaction. He warns that further price hikes are likely if authorities fail to intervene.
