Geopolitical standoff around Iran remains unresolved, Armenian MP warns
The geopolitical deadlock surrounding Iran remains unresolved and could escalate into more serious developments, Armenian opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan warns.
“Statements from the U.S. and Israel make it clear that the standoff around Iran is far from settled and more complex developments are likely in the near future,” he wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
Abrahamyan, a member of the Pativ Unem faction, noted that Iran appears fully aware of the looming challenges and is actively working to modernize its military. "Iran is making significant efforts to restore and upgrade its defense systems, which had been in decline," he stated.
The MP highlighted Iran’s recent deals, particularly in air defense and aviation, as part of a broader strategy to enhance its missile and UAV capabilities.
"In this context, I will refrain from reiterating the possible consequences of an strike on Iran that would inevitably have both direct and indirect repercussions for Armenia and the broader region, especially given that the Armenian authorities continue to yield easily to the whims of third parties, while distracting the public with trivial issues," Abrahamyan warned.
