Gutan Folk Fest to mark Hayrik Muradyan's 120th anniversary

This year, Armenia’s annual Gutan Folk Fest will celebrate the 120th anniversary of legendary musician Hayrik Muradyan. Organized by the Mrro National Art Center under the direction of Honored Artist of Armenia Arsen Grigoryan, the open-air event will take place at Yerevan’s Cafesjian Sculpture Garden (Cascade) on August 30.

More than 20 folk ensembles with around 500 performers will take the stage. A special guest this year is Zark, a traditional Armenian song and dance ensemble from Rostov, Russia.

Committed to preserving and promoting Armenian folk traditions, Gutan emphasizes performances in their original ethnic form, accompanied by live traditional instruments such as the duduk, zurna, blul and dhol. The festival also features documentary screenings about prominent Armenian singers and dancers.
