US Open: Khachanov reaches second round

Armenian-Russian tennis star Karen Khachanov advanced to the second round of the US Open in New York on Monday after defeating American Nishesh Basavareddy (the No. 104 seed) 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 7-5, 6-2 in a match lasting 3 hours and 12 minutes.

In the next round, Khachanov is set to face Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak (the No. 76 seed).

The total prize fund of the US Open stands at $90 million.
