Serzh Sargsyan holds phone call with Bako Sahakyan's family on his birthday

On the occasion of former Artsakh leader Bako Sahakyan’s birth anniversary, Armenia’s second president and Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) chairman, Serzh Sargsyan, spoke by phone with Sahakyan’s family members on Saturday, wishing them patience and tenacity, his office reported.

“Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope that the sham trials taking place in Baku against his brother-in-arms and other representatives of Artsakh’s military and political leadership, who had fought for freedom and independence of Artsakh and gave the best years of their life for the security of the people of Artsakh, would be concluded soon and that Bako Sahakyan, along with all other prisoners of war being held as hostages, would return home,” it said.

He further assured that both he personally and the RPA would continue to raise the issue on international platforms and in Armenia, to pursue legal defense and justice and to support the families of those unlawfully imprisoned in Baku.
