Opposition MP marks anniversary of Armenia-Artsakh road inauguration

September 1 is a significant date in Armenia's history, opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan claims.

“On this day in 2017, with the participation of Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Bako Sahakyan, the second modernized road connecting Armenia to Artsakh was officially inaugurated,” he wrote on Facebook on Monday.

The Pativ Unem faction MP stated the creation of this strategic route was a major step toward ensuring Artsakh’s security and boosting its economic development. Its importance was clearly demonstrated during the 44-day war, when it played a vital role in preventing even more devastating consequences.

“This road, which served as a lifeline tying Artsakh’s roots firmly to Armenia, was handed over to Azerbaijan by the current authorities in December 2020, paving the way for the complete surrender of Artsakh,” Abrahamyan added.
