Artur Vanetsyan: Our struggle is for true peace

Homeland Party leader Artur Vanetsyan insists that the Artsakh issue cannot be considered closed.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Call of Artsakh memorial complex at Yerevan’s Yerablur Military Pantheon on September 2, Artsakh’s Independence Day, Vanetsyan criticized attempts to portray the issue as resolved.

“Enemy states and, regrettably, even Armenia’s current authorities seek to convince us that the Artsakh issue has been closed and that Artsakh no longer exists. But Artsakh lives on in our hearts and minds,” he announced.

The memorial, funded by Vanetsyan’s family, honors those killed in the Artsakh wars, Armenians laid to rest in Artsakh and the victims of the 2023 fuel depot explosion in Stepanakert.

Vanetsyan noted that Armenians should have been commemorating the day in Stepanakert’s Renaissance Square but have been deprived of that opportunity. He expressed solidarity with the families of fallen soldiers, wished fortitude to Armenian prisoners held in Baku and called for the release of political prisoners in Armenia.

“Glory to the Republic of Armenia! Glory to the Republic of Artsakh! Our struggle is for true peace, real justice and the defense of our identity,” he stressed.
