Google reported down in multiple countries

Google is suffering outages in multiple countries, with core services such as Gmail and YouTube experiencing issues, Newsweek reported, citing the tracking website DownDetector.

Eastern and South-Eastern Europe reported a high number of outages. There were also issues reported in several U.S. cities, including New York and Chicago.

Newsweek contacted Google for comment on Thursday morning.

There are estimated to be approximately 2.5 billion Gmail accounts globally, with various reports saying the number of active monthly YouTube users worldwide is also around 2.5 billion.
