On September 4, at around 4 a.m., police officers on duty in Yerevan’s central Republic Square stopped a man attempting self-immolation while under the influence of alcohol.
Shamshyan.com reported that the individual poured gasoline from a bottle onto the ground, set it on fire and tried to lie down on the flames. The officers quickly approached and prevented the act, then took him to the central police station.
The man was later identified as 58-year-old Yerevan resident Armen M. Case files have been forwarded to the Investigative Committee for further investigation.
