MP Taguhi Tovmasyan demands daily drug tests for pro-government colleague

Opposition MP Taguhi Tovmasyan has notified Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan that ruling Civil Contract faction secretary Artur Hovhannisyan disrupted her press briefing last week.

The incident occurred while she was addressing the issue of Armenian prisoners facing torture in Baku.

“His conduct undermines not only the guarantees of a deputy’s work but also the rights of journalists,” Tovmasyan wrote on Facebook on Monday.

She demanded that Hovhannisyan undergo mandatory daily drug testing before entering the parliament building, with the results made public.

“The parliament cannot tolerate hooliganism,” Tovmasyan stressed.
