Mass food poisoning reported in Armenian town

Mass food poisoning has been reported in the Armenian town of Armavir, with several people hospitalized after dining at a local restaurant.

On September 8, the Armavir branch of Armenia’s National Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) told the Food Safety Inspectorate that two individuals had been admitted to the Armavir Medical Center with a diagnosis of food poisoning.

An immediate inspection was launched by food safety officials. Preliminary findings revealed that the patients’ condition deteriorated after consuming mushroom soup at Armavir Garden.

Shortly afterwards, 10 others sought medical assistance, reporting similar symptoms. They had also eaten at the same establishment, consuming chicken wings, chicken salad and chicken pizza.

Authorities have since carried out urgent measures, including sampling the available food from the restaurant for laboratory testing.
